Gorilla Robes began not with a business plan, but with a challenge.

Our founder, Barney, has always had a passion for pushing boundaries -whether that’s competing in elite level marathons, plunging into cold water, or exploring the outdoors. But when the idea of pursuing an MBA proved financially out of reach, he decided to do something different: learn by doing.

So he registered a company, having no idea where it would go.
With no formal training, he taught himself everything-from building a website and taking product photos to handling logistics and bookkeeping. His mentors? YouTube and Google.

Then came the pandemic. While the world slowed down, Gorilla Robes started to grow.
Balancing a full-time job, two young children, and marathon training, Barney poured every spare hour into the brand-driven by the belief that high-quality gear shouldn’t come with a luxury price tag.

What started with a waterproof poncho has evolved into a growing collection of purpose-built products for cold-water swimmers, surfers, paddleboarders, and anyone who refuses to stay indoors.

Today, Gorilla Robes is proudly run by a small, passionate team-built on grit, self-belief, and a love for the outdoors.
